Bad Unit? - Long Ton v. Tonne v. Short Ton v. British Ton... - Сообщения

Greetings,
I just want to verify something quick: is 'tonne calibrated to the wrong value? If this is supposed to be a Long Ton, then I would've thought the value to be 2,240 lbm, but I'm seeing it as 2,204 lbm.
May this be of Good Help;

Greetings,
You are correct; tonne is defined correctly. The "long ton (British ton)" is 2,240lbs; I was under the misunderstanding the British Ton and the Metric Tonne were the same unit of mass.

Better to always double check the units conversions .
There's also a short ton aka US ton; both short and long tons are defined as 1 ton =20 hundredweight, but the hundredweight is defined differently in US (100 pounds) and in Britain (112 pounds).
